Skin SuicideBeautiful skin radiates from moisture. Yet the two most common skin-detrimental ingredients, mineral oil and alcohol, have the opposite effect of moisturizing the skin. Oil encourages the skin to produce even more oil, and alcohol leads to dehydration. This common skin-care combo actually speeds up the aging process. MlNERAL OIL is the cheapest, most universally-used ingredient in skin care. Made from petroleum, it cannot be absorbed by the body. It "seals" the skin, clogs pores, attracts dirt and pulls essential trace minerals from the skin. It must be removed with harsh alcohol. PETROLATUM, also called paraffin jelly or petroleum jelly, is also made from petroleum and is very similar to mineral oil. ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL (SD Alcohol) is a harsh and poisonous solvent - that is also derived from petroleum. It is used to dissolve built-up wax and mineral oils on the skin - the ingredients of most skin-care products. It also dissolves the body's own natural moisturizers, leaving skin dry. In fact, it destroys the skin's pH balance. |

And dont forget LANOLIN is bad too! LANOLIN. Sounds nice, doesnt it? It conjures up images of softness and fluffy lambs, dont you think? Well dont fall for it. Lanolin is among the worst things you can put on your skin. Also called wool wax, lanolin, derived from sheep wool, is known for its ability to repel water and prevent water absorption. Lanolin does the exact opposite of what your skin needs! Your skin doesnt need protection from moisture, it needs moisture to stay supple. Additionally, lanolin, if not correctly processes, can contain many unexpected chemicals - whatever sheep are exposed to, chemically and environmentally. These chemicals could be pesticides or antibiotics in their food or growth hormones injections, whatever the sheep are exposed to becomes part of their body becomes part of lanolin. And you want this on your face? Think of it this way. Oil, like lanolin, suffocates your skin. Skin is your bodys largest organ and it NEEDS to breathe. It cant breathe when smothered. Marketing whiz-kids have led people to believe that they must 'seal' moisture in their skin. Unfortunately, sealing in moisture is a bad idea because your skin cant breathe. It is just like putting a plastic bag over your head. There is lots of moisture on the inside of the bag, but you cant breathe. Your skin must breathe to help eliminate waste material and toxins from your body. So what are you supposed to do? Read the ingredients on the label. If it they are not listed (are they trying to hide something?) on the container or its packaging, ask for it! Use only products that hydrate your skin through the use of humectants and that rejuvenate it with essential nutrients and antioxidants - use products that contain absolutely no lanolin, mineral oil or any petrochemical by-products.!
