Antioxidants; one of  the most researched nutritional subject.

the antioxidant revolution

You might not care about living to 85 - but what about living your last years with a chronic disease, with an oxygen tank, or in pain? Preventing illness is easier than curing it.

With increased air pollution / smog, a weakening ozone layer, more and more chemicals, synthetic materials and pesticides we now have much higher-than-normal levels of free radical activity in our body. The increased consumption of processed foods and the lack of fresh fruits and vegetables in our diets have left us with lower than normal levels of antioxidant protection. The combined result means more heart disease, cancer, increased rate of aging, arthritis, cataracts, fatigue, emphysema and dozens of other major diseases…

Each one of our cells gets thousands of free radical attacks each day - hundreds of thousands more if you smoke or are exposed to second hand smoke, or are in highly polluted environment. Don’t throw up your hands in despair. Here’s what you can do...

the antioxidant revolution

To protect yourself you need to keep the antioxidant level as high as possible in your blood and tissues.  The best known antioxidants are vitamin C and E and beta-carotene, but there are many more. The four-part strategy to Dynamic Health include:

  1. Avoid toxins and toxic environments - quit smoking today
  2. Improve your diet - more fruits & vegetables / less processed foods and meats
  3. Supplement your diet with high-quality nutritional supplements (one of the easiest ways to improve your health status.  We recommend LifePak)
  4. Monitor your health status regularly. (Find out about the BioScanner / Skin Carotenoid Score)

so - just what does an antioxidant do?

Antioxidants help protect the body from free radical attacks. If you cut an apple in half it will turn brown, or oxidize. If you add an antioxidant such as lemon juice, it apple doesn’t turn brown. The fruit is protected from oxidation caused by free radicals. The same thing happens with all of your cells in your body - this is the basic mechanism of disease and aging..

where do antioxidants come from?
They are found in certain vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients. There are different kinds of antioxidants, some neutralize free radicals, some ‘renew’ antioxidants so the body can reuse them. Some work  in the blood, others in the cell tissue.   One of the easiest way to recognise foods that are particularly rich in antioxidants is by colour – pigments found in brightly coloured plants account for some antioxidants: so go for red, yellow, orange and green fruits and vegetables. Seeds, legumes, nuts, grains, soy products, teas, and even chocolate are also good sources!   A good antioxidant supplement provides a variety of antioxidant sources.
